John Stewart can no more be pigeon-holed into a musical category than he can be described with typical music critic lingo. To call him a singer-songwriter is inadequate. Living legend, cult hero, American icon - each applies, but fails to capture the totality of his work.

Bloodlines
California Bloodlines was one of the first solo effort albums that John Stewart released. Bloodlines, internet mailing list (discussion group) for John Stewart fans (Stewartistas we sometimes call ourselves) takes it's name from the song by that title. We consider ourselves a family of sorts, but you'll understand that after being a member for about a second and a half.
Just click on the word "BLOODLINES" and you're on your way to being the most informed Stewartista on your block. Put the words "subscribe bloodlines" (without the quotes) in the body of your email. We have over 500 members and would love to have you join us, provided you know the answer to the question: "Where ya headed, honey?" Check your answer.
Here we will discuss anything and everything related to the John Stewart, his music and how it affects our lives. This is an UNMODERATED list. That means, no thought police! However, with rights, go responsibilities and try to remember...
"... when freedom of speech wasn't every four-letter word a sailor never said..."I remember America. How about you?
If you have any questions about this medium for heartfelt interchange, please e-mail me, Michelle Stevens, at chillywinds [at] gmail [dot] com I'll be happy to field any questions you may have. But look below for a few tips on mailing list processes and procedures first.

Just what IS a Mailing List ?
A mailing list is merely an email address which is read by a server and translated into a list of members or "subscribers". For example, posting to bloodlines [at] lists [dot] strangerivers [dot] com will result in the message being sent to a large number of individuals who are interested in the discussion issues of that group. (Don't try sending a message there now, though. Until you are a member, it won't be accepted.)
Generally, mailing lists are managed by some automated process on the server known as a listserver. These programs manage the subscriptions and other functions which can be useful to a list.
Joining (subscribing) to the mailing list
This is simply a matter of sending an email message to the list server with a command typed into the body of the message. For example, to join the mailing list whose address is bloodlines [at] lists [dot] strangerivers [dot] com, you would email requests [at] lists [dot] strangerivers [dot] com with the command subscribe bloodlines. The subject line of the message can be left blank. There should be no other information written into the message.
Removing yourself (unsubscribing) from the list
Send an email message to requests [at] lists [dot] strangerivers [dot] com with the appropriate command typed into the body of the message.
Unsubscribe bloodlines
The subject line of the message can be left blank. There should be no other information written into the messaage body.
